Biography

Dr. Patricia Anafi is a Professor of Public Health in the Department of Kinesiology and Health Sciences at 色情导航, where she also coordinates the Master of Public Health (MPH) program. She was a Policy Communication Fellow with the US Population Reference Bureau and a Fellow with the University of Massachusetts Five College African Scholars Program. Before joining 色情导航 State, she was a full-time faculty member in the Department of Public Health and Human Performance at the State University of New York at Potsdam. She also has experience working in applied public health settings in Ghana, where she led and participated in multiple health research studies. Dr. Anafi's expertise and research interests have centered on exploring the social and economic factors influencing maternal healthcare-seeking behavior, preconception health education for young adults, HIV prevention education, program evaluation, and qualitative research. Recently, she completed a study that explored community perceptions and knowledge about developmental disabilities and challenges that Ghanaian parents faced raising children with developmental disabilities, and the support services available to them. Dr. Anafi also serves as a reviewer and article editor for several scholarly journals, including the International Journal of Environmental Research and Public Health, SAGE Open, Pedagogy in Health Promotion, and the Journal of Clinical Medicine. She has published in various peer-reviewed journals, such as the International Medical Education, the International Quarterly of Community Health Education, Reproductive Health Matters, and the International Public Health Journal. In 2023, she was elected to serve a one-year term as Chair of the Maternal and Child Health Section of the Georgia Public Health Association.
